Passers-by, proceed to the next paragraph
“…that even though I’ve just experienced that-which-could-have-been the biggest distraction to steer my thoughts clear of the matter, I am constantly bombarded with opportunistic windows to re-live the events as they happened, surprisingly, to me, without feeling compelled, but obliged.” These are my thoughts on the title. So gay.
A post-concert mini-review
The Fall Out Boy concert is finally over. I’ve had my ticket since early August; this blog on the other hand, has been instrumental (at least) in uniting Fall Out Boy would-be concert goers looking for details online – from my post entitled “Fall Out Boy set to visit Philippines.”
The Philippine leg is part of their Friends or Enemies World Tour – which I will now aptly dub “The Pete Wentz show.” Pete Wentz, Fall Out Boy bassist, star of his own scandal, rumored boyfriend of Ashlee Simpson, is in fact, Fall Out Boy.
Chicosci, as you might have already known, opened the show promptly at 8:00 p.m. I admire the fact that they were able to reverse chants of “Fall Out Boy! Fall Out Boy!” to “Chicosci! Chicosci!” Still, throughout their set I couldn’t help but think of only one thing – what could possibly be going through Pete Wentz’ mind seeing his every move mirrored by Calde (Chicosci’s bassist).
Pete Wentz is definitely the poster boy for today’s emo bass man – bass strumming, twirl-la-loos, one-side (hairdo), and hoodie (shirt).
At the end of their set, Mong Alcaraz (guitarist) figured it was the appropriate forum to wreck one of his guitars.
On to Fall Out Boy. Their set started at 9:15 p.m., after a short spiel by MTV VJ’s Anne Curtis, Sib, and another girl. They opened with the song Thriller – one of my favorites. Unfortunately, my attention was only half of that of a healthy man. Luckily, our seats was neither blocked by anyone in front nor close enough to merit the need to stand up – to avoid being labeled “kill joy.” Still, I couldn’t help but bob my head to their most energetic songs (which I knew) – I’ve been to more concerts where I knew less songs.
Some more thoughts and instances worthy of this blog: Pete Wentz literally fell smack on the floor on one of his antics – after which he proceeded to do some stage push ups (middle of a song). They covered Beat It by Michael Jackson, Green Day’s Basket Case and another song – Power of Love? Concerts of today are nothing compared to concerts of yesterday – take Rage Against the Machine for example – I would have never imagined seeing 10-year-olds accompanied by their parents back then. Patrick Stump is definitely the real talent in the band – he even does the solos and the harder guitar parts – which leads me to doubt more Joe Trohman’s real role in the band. Other than that, this is probably the only band not properly “fronted” by the frontman.
Among other things
I’m re-opening the gates of my hosting business – thanks to a new lease on life jump started by Vulgar “Oo, ang taba mo na!” Pulgar, and a load-less Dual Xeon Dempsey 3.0. I also almost nearly appeared on two more television shows this week – no thanks to boy sakitin (yours truly). Oh, I am contemplating on whether to buy a Nokia N61i – proclaimed must-have “it” phone of 2007, or a very tempting cheap-ass Sony Ericsson P990i (Php 13,500 brand new). And, lastly, Christian Bautista forgets his national anthem. Meanwhile, enjoy some Bianca King goodness.
