If you have been to the Philippine Blog Awards site, you might have seen my blog and my new blog network in the sponsors area. My blog network was about two weeks old when I heard about the blog awards; I figured it would be good exposure for the network.
I had only intended to include Bembang! Blogs in the sponsor list of the blog awards but I forgot to clarify with Abe about it so he placed my blog’s link instead. I was already planning to donate more than the minimum anyway so I decided to leave my blog’s link there along with Bembang! Blogs. Sponsoring the awards would mean name recall for my blog network and link love, therefore hits.
The statistics here will come from Bembang! Blogs and not Thoughts In Binary. The link back to Bembang! Blogs was added on the Blog Awards site and on Abe’s blog on February 12, 2007. On that day alone I received a additional 17 unique visitors coming from Abe’s blog and the blog awards’ site combined. The next day I got 13, then 10 the following day, then it averaged around 4-5 uniques until the end of February. Sometimes it would go more than 10 but it still averaged 4-5. Come March the average dropped to 1 unique click per day.
I just hope it will pick up some more as the awards become nearer. I also wonder if I would have gotten more hits if I became a major sponsor instead, but I see the links on basically the same places. The main difference that I know of between a minor sponsor and a major sponsor is that you get to place a banner of your logo on the day of the awards itself. Since I don’t have logos for both blogs, no use. I had hoped that bloggers posting about the blog awards include the links to the sponsors, but I think Abe was the only one obliged to do that. Not even posts like this one, and this one included the links.
Links are precious, for me it’s a no-brainer if you could donate an affordable amount in exchange for link love. What I got from the blog awards, it’s fine, could have been better but at least bloggers now know that there’s a Bembang! Blogs and a Thoughts In Binary out there in the blogosphere.
